BMW & Lamborghini announce plans to shelve certain cars

News from two different automakers both result in the same thing, the plans to shelve certain cars. Both BMW and Lamborghini have announced that they will shelve one of their models due to the global economic downturn which the world is currently trying to recover from.

BMW said that they would shelve the next-generation Z4M. The mean and more powerful Motorsport Z4 from BMW has been seen as more of a liability than a good business idea, and the Bavarian automaker does not want to risk this.

The BMW X5 and X6 Motorsport models were apparently signed off just before the demand fell, meaning that there was probably a great chance that they would have also been crunched if the economic downturn occurred sooner.

Although this is bad news from BMW, they have said that they are working on a M Sport Package for the Z4, and this will include an ECU update which will allow the 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged engine to push out an extra 20-hp, for a total of 326-hp.

Lamborghini on the other hand has decided that they will shelve the Estoque four-door, four-seater coupe concept. Lamborghini said that the time was just not right for a car like this.

The mid-front mounted engine supercar will all-wheel-drive was originally going to arrive in 2011, but reality has struck.

Lamborghini originally planned a wide range of engines for the Estoque, including a high-powered diesel unit.
