Spy Shots – Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG

The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG has been referred to as the SLC or a modern day Gullwing, but now it has been named.

The SLS will have gullwing-style doors similar to that found in the classic 300SL.

It seems as if the SLS is a bit smaller than the current Mercedes supercar, called the SLR McLaren. The new SLS will feature an all-aluminium space frame which will help the car be a bit lighter on its wheels.

Power for the AMG will come from a 6.2-litre V8 engine with 563-hp and 479lb-ft of torque. The engine will be sitting behind the front axle, and it will be mounted very low. The gearbox will be a new seven-speed dual clutch ‘box.

Expect the SLS AMG to feature things such as Race Start launch control, which will allow a 0-100km/h time of only 3.8-seconds every time. The top speed will be limited to 196mph.
