News & Renderings Of The New Porsche Spyder For 2011

We’d like to give the Porsche Spyder a warm welcome back! The new Spyder was recently rendered by AutoExpress where they revealed the new model with a two-seater shape for 2013. The Spyder from Porsche will be strongly based on the Volkswagen BlueSport Concept’s underpinnings, where it will then also share technology and parts with Audi’s new R2.

Porsche are trying to build the Spyder to feature lightweight parts, good driving dynamics and fuel efficiency with notable performance.

The Spyder will have a canvas drop-top which is really small, as this model will soon be the smallest model in the range. Ultimately this means that Porsche will downsize for 4 cylinder engines from VW.

Entry level motors for the Porsche Spyder will probably be the 147kW 2.0-litre TFSI engine from the Golf GTI, where there will then be a 280bhp sport version featuring the same engine.
